The Dark Of The Day (2017)

In October 2017 the second album of the Delden-Hengelo based band Sleepstorm appeared, named "The Dark Of The Day". It's a self-released epic album with an eclectic music style that can best be described as melancholic electro-rock-pop. During the two years after the calm and atmospheric debut-album "Dream Big", the band has released twelve songs that, especially when performed live, appeal more to the audience.

Against the flow

The influence from the 80's and 90's can be found, but more styles find a place in this post-modernistic release. Averse to any convention Bas, Michel and Martin Jan write music they like to listen to themselves. Placing Sleepstorm outside any box or in all combined.

Development and broadening

Singer Bas's voice has grown. That can be heard in the first two songs in which is worked from super-modest song to fully bombastic ad-libs. The danceability of this album is also assured with songs like Electric Love, Second Chance and Beautiful. Between these, big and small songs take turns in a balanced way. Exceptions are the surprisingly hard ending of Cold Case that hits you straight from the speakers, the hypnotising One Way and the modest closing song Mountain Tops.
